Merry Christmas

Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11:17AM Today is my day to post, and I really have nothing to post. No words of wisdom, no anecdote to craft and entertain, and no complaint or appeal. My children are warm and clothed and fed and filled with expectation. Sophie, my daughter who is so often the subject of these posts, is doing a little better, better being that state of the moment, the moment the study of which I find to be at once impossible and full of ease. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you who walk here, to your children and families and friends.
The Magi
Now as at all times I can see in the mind's eye,
In their stiff, painted clothes, the pale unsatisfied ones
Appear and disappear in the blue depth of the sky
With all their ancient faces like rain-beaten stones,
And all their helms of silver hovering side by side,
And all their eyes still fixed, hoping to find once more,
Being by Calvary's turbulence unsatisfied,
The uncontrollable mystery on the bestial floor.
--William Butler Yeats (1865-1939)
