In Memory of the Accidental Caregiver
Christina Shaver |
Thursday, November 26, 2009 at 7:36AM With deep sadness I'm sorry to announce the passing of one of our writers, The Accidental Caregiver.
He was one of the first writers I asked to join Hopeful Parents when this website started in January, and he did so enthusiastically. The Accidental Caregiver not only wrote here, but freelanced for many publications in Chicago, most frequently of late, The Chicago Reader. His articles appeared this year in online publications like The Rumpus and Swindle.
His son and my son attended the same therapeutic preschool. He was a dedicated and loving father to his young son G. and his two older boys. He and his wife swapped traditional roles with she producing TV and he staying home with G. once economic times started getting tough. The Accidental Caregiver attended all of G.'s therapy sessions and researched everything he could to find help for his son. Just last week, I had coffee with his wife, and she was singing his praises on going above and beyond for G.
It is with a heavy heart that I find this out on Thanksgiving morning and pass it along to you. I'm sure he would want all of us to focus on everything positive in life -- love, love, love, our spouses, our children, our families.
