We're hopeful parents...
are you?

Our kids have all kinds of special needs, mild to severe. Some of us grieve the loss of our children. We do the very best we can, which often takes a toll on us. We come here to share our feelings with other parents who understand. We're searching for every parent of a child with special needs. Welcome!

Lessons from Rock Towers

I spent one of the last warm days of summer with my young son. We stacked rocks. Here is what I learned:

Natural connections work better than glue.

Sometimes putting things in balance means knocking other things off balance.

It is possible to put chaos in the background.

When something gets knocked off balance, it can come back together, but not in the same way.

Rocks can nourish a person.

It is more difficult to have balance in many areas than it is to focus on one.

You think you have things in balance, but then kids come along…

What’s balanced for a kid may not necessarily look balanced to an adult, but both ways work.

If you look closely, nothing is the same.

Some foundations can support two structures, and when it works, there is beauty.

It takes time to find balance, which can be destroyed in an instant.
